Mystery as ‘murdered teacher withdraws money from bank account’

The people of Afuda, Ebhoiyi Uromi, in Esan North East Local Government  Area  of Edo State were thrown into mourning on  Sunday, August 5 after unknown gunmen, suspected to be assassins, killed the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in the council,  Daniel Ehinon Akhidi.
The deceased, who was also the Secretary of Esan North East LGA Public Primary School Worker/Farmers Multi-Purpose Corporative Society Limited, Uromi, was a calm and peaceful community leader and that was why his sudden death came as a rude  shock to not only his family members but  also to the entire NUT family and Uromi as a whole. Sunday Vanguard was informed that the incident occurred at about 8p.m. on the fateful day when some unknown gunmen followed the 51-year-old teacher to his residence.
It was said that when the victim got to his residence, the suspects accosted  him at his gate, pushed him out of his car and started beating him. Daniel’s plea to the suspected assassins to save his life  attracted the attention of his wife, Cordelia, and children who rushed out know what was happening. But when the came out, the suspects, about five in number, threatened to shoot and  ordered  the family members to go back. Fearing that they might be shot, they obeyed the gunmen.
The next thing they heard were gunshots and a loud cry from the victim. After shooting him, they went away with his  sports utility vehicle (SUV). He was rushed to the Otibokhai Specialist Hospital Irrua, where he  gave up the ghost before he could receive any treatment.

While friends and family members were wondering what could have led to his untimely death, some thing mysterious happened the next day, Monday,  August 6. An alert came into the deceased’s  phone which was with the younger brother, Kenneth.

Mysterious Woman fell from sky

According to a Linda Ikeji Blog reader, who took the photo and sent the story in; around 4am this morning, a woman (pictured above) supposedly fell from the sky in front of a house that was doing all night prayer. The house is behind Redeemed Christian Church of God, Eagle Island, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. They said after she fell, she started crying and speaking a language nobody could understand.
Usually with stories like this we hear of mob action. But nobody tried to beat this woman. People were too scared to go near her. Halleluyah for that!
Some of you remember that 11 year old boy that was set ablaze some years back in Surulere, after some people claimed he fell from the sky? Fashola arrested quite a number of people for his murder, but were all later released. Why do some people believe such stories?

HOW I ESCAPED FORM THE HANDS OF RITUALISTS

A first year student of Health Technology at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Miss Grace Ayetan (20), at the weekend narrated her ordeal with ritualists to The Nation in Benin, the Edo State capital.

Grace, who was accompanied by her father, Mr. James Ayetan said: “I boarded a bus from Ring-Road to school and there were other passengers in the vehicle. “We started shouting, but the driver and the conductor brought out a gun and told us to be quiet.
“They took us to an underground house in the forest and put us into different rooms. They chained us and hung our bags around our necks. We went without food and water for days.

“After beheading a woman and her baby, a fight ensued between the ritualists over what to do with the rest of us. In the process, a bunch of keys fell from one of them.

“The fight drew the attention of the guards at the main entrance who took the parties into a room to settle the dispute.
“That gave one of us the opportunity to pick the keys and unlock the chains. That was how we escaped.”
Grace said a good Samaritan took them out of the forest and brought them to Benin.
She advised the public to be careful when boarding commercial vehicles. Mr. Ayetan urged security agents to curb the activities of ritualists.

This could be an eye opener to whom it may concern, please learn to be more careful...Board commercial buses only at designated parks! At least that helps a bit.
